Winter Wonderland Wedding

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Romantic.  Sweet.  Unique.  FREEZING.  But totally worth it.  I teamed up with some seriously awesome people to put together this winter wedding inspiration with cable knit sweaters galore.  And it was seriously dangerous.  Especially since we pulled off on the side of the road and trespassed onto this amazing property because it was just too perfect.  It was even more perfect when the owner came home in the middle of the shoot.  But he was rad, and said, “have fun!”.  Just wanted to share.

“My dress is Jessica McClintock, it’s a dress they had for a vintge inspired prom dress line and never sold any! I got the last one in the store, they had sent all the rest back. I bought it at the K Street Mall in Sacramento at a JM store.”

Miley Cyrus’ 18th Birthday & AMA after party!

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Can I even tell you how excited I am?  I am actually having trouble typing.  YES.  I love Miley Cyrus.  I have watched her movies, I have her music on my iphone, she is even part of my jogging mix.  I think she is rad.  So, when I found out that I had the opportunity to design the backdrop for her 18th birthday party, I practically did a backflip!  But then I realized that I am too old for that.  So I just screamed like a little girl.

Melody, for Sweet and Saucy Shop called me with some inspiration ideas.  Miley LOVES dreamcatchers.  So we went running.  I created, by hand, a bunch of dream catchers out of rope and embroidery rings, painted them gold, and attached some fun feathers.  Keep your eye out for a DIY post on these beauties soon.  We used turquoise as our accent color and placed the dreamcatcher piece to a backdrop of ivory burlap and lace.  I was in LOVE.  Mel made one of the most amazing cakes ever with sugar leaves of gold, and dreamcatcher designs sprinkled throughout.  And the dessert display was full of all her amazing creations, including her macaroon trees!  Posh Paperie made the most PERFECT dessert labels with a brushed gold feather for all of the mini desserts.  The party took place at the swanky Le Trousdale in Hollywood and was also the hot spot for the AMA after party.  EEEEEKKKKKK!!!!   We brought the beautiful Carlie of Gabriel Ryan Photographers to take some pics for us.We had a blast and I am so honored to have played a small part.  Enjoy Miley’s Story.

Wedded Whimsy

DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING.  That’s all I can say.  This wedding was unbelievable in every way.  Perfect clients.  Perfect family.  Perfect vendors.  Perfect location.  Perfect design.  I was in love with every step of the way.  Our inspiration began with a kite.  Then we started seeing kites popping up all over the blog-o-sphere, so we kind of modified it a bit to everything cute paper.  Let me just break down some design aspects for you:

Invitations:  We started with a kite.  And BOY, did Posh Paperie NAIL it!  They even were complete with a cute kite “tail” that came off of the invite!  LOVED THEM!

Tables: Crisp, white linen scattered with colored bird houses, and vintage milkglass full of whimsical florals by JL_Designs.

Dessert Display:  Sweet and Saucy’s amazingness (as usual) with a backdrop of helium filled balloons creating our color scheme and funky decor style.

Guest Book:  Hand crafted kite, covered in vintage fabric.  We also cut a bunch of strips of fabric for the guests to “sign” and then tie to the “tail” of our kite.  LOVED IT.

Ceremony Magic:  TONS of handmade pinwheels, flowers, kites, and more covering the altar.  Sweet floral print fabric lining the aisle and pinwheels on sticks lining the chairs.  Mr. Haack was KEY in the ceremony decor installation.  It would NOT have come together so beautifully without him.

Party Favor:  You wouldn’t have known it, but this was a 4th of July wedding, so I snuck in some fun party blowers.  I also sneakily handed them out to the bridal party to blow loud and clear when the newlyweds had their first kiss in the ceremony.  It ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the wedding!
