Desert Mod

Friday, June 10th, 2011
A bride with a mohawk? Hot pink chiavari chairs? And a three-legged dog named Tipsy? STOP IT. Add the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, as much tumbleweed that we could wrangle from the desert, and some mid-century modern flair, and you’ve got Desert Mod.
The tablescape we created was full of big, bold colors – including hot pink chiavari chairs, denim wrapped vases, orange and yellow blooms, and bright chevron patterns. A personalized pink cactus awaits each wedding guest.
The bride wore a champagne gown and sported a mohawk, while her groom wore a bolero tie with a thistle boutonniere. We formed a gigantic heart from tumbleweed, and an interactive “guest book” allowed guests to form messages and pictures with perler beads.
Check out what our amazing team put together, and thank you so much to DESIGN SPONGE for the feature!!!! Enjoy!

1950′s Mod!

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

JASMINE STAR.  Jasmine FREAKIN Star.  She wanted to work with me.  WHAT????  She wanted to do something crazy.  YES YES YES.  How did I get to be so blessed???  She threw out the idea of Mod 1950′s.  I fell in love.  Then I called Carissa of JL designs.  I knew she would die over it.  Between the three of us, the concept took on a mind of it’s own.  I then called my friends Melody from Sweet and Saucy, and Rachelle from Wiley Valentine.  And I just kept falling in love.  And look at what Erica and Katie of 1011 Makeup did with the makeup and hair!!  What an amazing team and an amazing artful concept.  Go check our feature on Green Wedding Shoes!  Enjoy our story!

Winter Wonderland Wedding

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

Romantic.  Sweet.  Unique.  FREEZING.  But totally worth it.  I teamed up with some seriously awesome people to put together this winter wedding inspiration with cable knit sweaters galore.  And it was seriously dangerous.  Especially since we pulled off on the side of the road and trespassed onto this amazing property because it was just too perfect.  It was even more perfect when the owner came home in the middle of the shoot.  But he was rad, and said, “have fun!”.  Just wanted to share.

Burlap & Lace

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Rustic venue.  Romantic bride.  Dapper groom.  Burlap.  Lace.  And a touch of blue to spice things up.  Jodie and Nathan knew they wanted to keep things organic to compliment the venue they chose, but also wanted to showcase their funky, fun and modern style just a *touch* in the design of their wedding.  I think it turned out PERFECT.  Obviously, the amazing vendor team didn’t hurt our situation a bit.  Enjoy the story of The Ree-Todd’s :)

Wedded Whimsy

DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING DYING.  That’s all I can say.  This wedding was unbelievable in every way.  Perfect clients.  Perfect family.  Perfect vendors.  Perfect location.  Perfect design.  I was in love with every step of the way.  Our inspiration began with a kite.  Then we started seeing kites popping up all over the blog-o-sphere, so we kind of modified it a bit to everything cute paper.  Let me just break down some design aspects for you:

Invitations:  We started with a kite.  And BOY, did Posh Paperie NAIL it!  They even were complete with a cute kite “tail” that came off of the invite!  LOVED THEM!

Tables: Crisp, white linen scattered with colored bird houses, and vintage milkglass full of whimsical florals by JL_Designs.

Dessert Display:  Sweet and Saucy’s amazingness (as usual) with a backdrop of helium filled balloons creating our color scheme and funky decor style.

Guest Book:  Hand crafted kite, covered in vintage fabric.  We also cut a bunch of strips of fabric for the guests to “sign” and then tie to the “tail” of our kite.  LOVED IT.

Ceremony Magic:  TONS of handmade pinwheels, flowers, kites, and more covering the altar.  Sweet floral print fabric lining the aisle and pinwheels on sticks lining the chairs.  Mr. Haack was KEY in the ceremony decor installation.  It would NOT have come together so beautifully without him.

Party Favor:  You wouldn’t have known it, but this was a 4th of July wedding, so I snuck in some fun party blowers.  I also sneakily handed them out to the bridal party to blow loud and clear when the newlyweds had their first kiss in the ceremony.  It ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the wedding!

ALSO, Green Wedding Shoes featured this wedding today, so go over there and check out their AMAZING post!

Spring Time Fun

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Watermelon red.  Vibrant blue.  Sunshine yellow.  The color combo alone is enough to flip me out!  Sara and Michael wanted to do something bright, fun and personal.  The funnest part of it all was that they completely trusted us as their vendors and allowed us to really showcase our artistic ideas.  So, of course, Carissa from JL Designs and Melody from Sweet and Saucy Shop had to be along for the ride.  The amazing girls at Posh Paperie really started the whole concept with their amazing invitation design!  We really wanted it to be fun, different, and impacting while still capturing a classy and beautiful environment.  This wedding is also a perfect example of how to distract from the sometimes difficult carpets and drapes of certain venues :)  The white chiavari chairs and white dance floor made the hugest difference to take your eye away from the abrupt colors of the venue!

Palos Verdes Romance

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This wedding was full of class.  Not only design-wise, but bride and groom-wise.  Mia and Clay are the kind of clients we all hope for.  They were extremely trusting, extremely thankful, and extremely generous.  What a joy to work with!  One of the things they told me about themselves during a design meeting was that they LOVE tequila.  Well, don’t we all?  So we used this opportunity to get mini bottles of their fave tequila to use as a party favor/seat assignment.  Guests LOVED it!  Not a full bottles was left in the house!  Carissa, with JL Designs really brought the entire look together with her modern, yet romantic white florals against the chocolate brown linens and the sprinkle of candle light throughout the room.  The ceremony was a bit foggy but that didn’t matter when Mia and Clay’s smiles were bright enough to burst through the thickest of fog!  I know, I’m so poetic!  I hope you enjoy the journey through their day as much as I did!
