Haute Glue Couture

Pink, sparkle, glam, food, a gorgeous red head, and a husband with a fro.  What else does a girl need?  We worked on this concept styled shoot for Utterly Engaged Issue #010.  This was when my paper flowers were born!  I just thought it would be fun to share with you some pictures of the concept.  Love the pink fishnets, the styled food, and the guys in pink striped shirts.  Enjoy!

On Cloud 9

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

On Cloud 9.  That is what I was the entire time I worked on this project with these amazing talents.  I’ve always daydreamed of creating an all white event.  Add some crafty fun, and it really was a dream come true.  We made felt clouds stuffed with poly-fill, and lined the aisle with fluffy poly-fill to create a “walking on a cloud” feel.  I only wish there was a real wedding occuring after this photo shoot.  Deepest thanks to the Utterly Engaged team for inviting me to participate in the AMAZING issue 014.  Go see it HEREEEEEEEEEEE.

Jr High Sweethearts

Thursday, February 10th, 2011

They met in Jr High.  He, with the smarty pants sense of humor.  She, the loyal friend and the coveted wardrobe.  She scratched his face out in her yearbook.  So of course they got married 15 years later.  And she is my best friend.  Since 4th grade.  She is a high school teacher.  They love books.  Each guests was given a book specifically chosen for them as a favor.  Personalized book marks stuck inside each book.  Tables were named after their favorite authors.  We guided the guests to their seats with a dewey decimal system type set up in vintage rolodexes.  The guests signed old library check out cards attached to a guest book.  And my favorite, the 3 dimensional backdrop of books sticking out from raw wood.  A special shout out to Amber with Pitbulls and Posies for creating the APEX of our design, her school themed invitations and signage.  Her work is an inspiration.  And to my love, Mr Haack, our first wedding we worked on together.  I am in awe of your talent.  Enjoy their story.

Matryoshka Dolls & Fortune Cookies

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

They wanted to represent BOTH of their cultures.  So what else would we do other than Matryoshka dolls, paper fortune cookies, all wrapped up in a gradient pink hue?  Duh!  We brought in lots of fur in the table runners, and the ceremony aisle runner.  The amazing Russian Matryoshka dolls stood at attention down the aisle as well, and witnessed the touching nuptials.  We layered the place settings in 4 different shades of pink napkins.  Adorned each setting with a fuschia candy, showed the guests to their seats with a hand made paper fortune cookie, and backed the desserts with some feathers and glitter.  It all just made for the most adorable, quirky, and incredibly personal wedding ever!

Family Photos

Thursday, February 3rd, 2011

We were so blessed by our friends Mark & Candice when they took our family photos for our christmas card!  They are seriously amazing artists and we are in love with their style of photography.  Plus, they are really RAD friends.  I wanted to share some of my favorite shots from our crazy shoot.  Trying to get 2 kids and a dog to all look at the camera at once should be the next Olympic sport (come on, Curling?).
