Bowties & Peacocks

Monday, September 27th, 2010

The outrageously FUN design of this wedding could not have been possible without the unbelievable talents of the bride and her mom.  I fell in love with Kelly, Eric and their families.  They were complete dreams to work with.  The bride’s lovely mom was a sewing maniac!  We decided to give each guest a hand crafted bowtie (guys) or a hand sewn hair bow (girls) as a favor and seat assignment tag.  It was amazing to see all of the guests wearing their favor throughout the night!  From hand sewn pillows by the mother of the bride to homemade bowtie stir sticks by the bride herself, this was definitely a team effort!  Check my DIY post on the cute stir sticks here.  My favorite piece of this design is the little guest book, Pete the Peacock.  I hand crafted him out of styrofoam and tissue paper.  The guests signed a card that was attached to a peacock feather and were to place the feather into the tail of Petey.  Instead, they kind of ended up sticking his feathers all over his body.  SO FUN.  And how can we not talk about the silly string grand exit?  BY FAR my most favorite grand exit ever!  It takes a special bride and groom to be so fun to agree to this madness!  My office mate Aaron Shintaku KILLED it with the photos.  I am blessed to work with him.

Great Gatsby Marvimon Wedding

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

LOVE Great Gatsby :)  What do I love more?  Our “take” on The Great Gatsby, wedding-style.  Joanna & Brian gave Carissa, from JL Designs, and I complete design control!  Can you say DREAM COME TRUE?  So, we came up with lots of lace, black feathers, pearls and a hand crafted aisle runner that I think I am in love with.  And just wait until you see the most UNBELIEVABLE cake I have ever laid eyes on by Sweet and Saucy Shop.  You. Will. Die.  I promise.  Annie McElwain?  She is amazing, and she captured all of the details with a flawless lens.
