Wed While Camping

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

When Ami from Elizabeth Anne Designs contacted me about participating in her contest collaboration with The Sweetest Occasion, I jumped at the chance!  They based the premise of the contest on their belief that the best weddings are those that are unique and personal to the couple and a passion for all of the little touches that make occasions large and small even sweeter. With that in mind, they are challenging wedding vendors to team up to create a unique wedding concept to inspire couples as they plan their event.

We wanted to go camping.

We used a handmade table top made of reclaimed wood found in dumpsters as our table scape.  We incorporated the blue speckled dinnerware into the design to reflect the camping necessities.  The flowers were made of balsa wood paired with some funky greens placed in a bark covered vase.  The invitation was made to reflect a trail map while the menus were placed in sleeping bag type covers.  We ate from sporks, used a “make your own smore” concept as the favor and headlamps to help the guests “find” their seats.  Displayed the cake on a well-used grill.  Dressed the men in bright flannel and the bridesmaid in a fancy jumper while the bride strutted a rainbow puff vest.  LOVED IT ALL.

Bowtie Stir Sticks

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

I was experimenting some stir stick ideas for one of my beautiful brides and came up with this AWESOME bowtie stir stick.  I thought I would share a little DIY with you all!

Step One:

Draw a bowtie on the BACK of some cute paper.

Step Two:

Cut out that bowtie EXCEPT for one side of the bowtie.

Step Three:

Fold the cut out part of the bowtie over onto the paper.

Step Four:

Trace the already cut out bowtie.

Step Five:

Unfold and cut out the remaining bowtie, keeping the two connected.

Step Six:

Place your stick in the folded edge to separate the two bowties and glue together.

What a cute bowite stir stick!
