Something Blue

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Just a little.  Blue.  We found these unique, blue tinted vases and filled them with antique-looking hydrangeas.  The beautiful bride planted all of these wonderful herbs to show the guests to their seats.  We backed that table with some cool panels I found at a garage sale.  This wedding will be most remembered for the most crazy. dancing. EVER.  I loved every minute of it.

Art Inspired Wedding

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Two artists.  A spanish style, vintage hotel.  Deep reds and browns.  So much amazing art.  Details to die for.

Jason and Eileen are such talented artists and when designing their wedding we decided to use art as their main concept.  How did we pull it in?  Well, we used original art pieces from both the bride and the groom for table “names”.  We duplicated those pieces on postcards that we attached to a 6ft custom made frame strung with ribbon.  We cut out 400 red paper flowers to attach to the clothes pins holding the escort cards to the massive frame.  Go see my do – it – yourself tutorial on how to make these beauties here.  We also used the red flowers to add a little pizazz to the favor boxes (that were filled with homemade rice krispy treats).  We filled empty paint cans with favorite candy.  We created faux lamps surrounded by rich flowers and strung with ivory pearls.  And we used a bear and honey pot to collect the gift cards on the gift table which came from a cute inside joke between the bride and groom.

Junkyard Inspiration

Friday, March 19th, 2010

When Lucia of Utterly Engaged talked to me about joining their Design Challenge for their New Years Party, I new I wanted to use this opportunity to do something totally offbeat and different.  So I got inspired.  By a junkyard.  I know, sometimes I need to just reel it back in.  But it was so fun!  Thank you to the girls of Utterly Engaged for all of your continued support and of course, the amazing Jasmine Star for shooting my tablescape!!

Sneaky Picnic Proposal

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Styling a proposal photo shoot?  SURE!  Besides the fact that I am obsessed with Aaron Shintaku and I would do ANYTHING for him, I LOVE the couple getting engaged!  A couple of weeks ago Shintaku shot a lifestyle shoot of Josh and Michelle, check it out here.  So Josh’s idea was to tell Michelle that a huge blog was interested in doing a series based on that shoot.  So “they” asked Jesi Haack Weddings to style it and Aaron Shintaku to shoot a picnic style, romantic shoot.  Poor girl.  Thought she was gonna be famous, instead she just got…ENGAGED!!!

We set up a paisley print blanket, purchased some matching baskets to put the food, plates and even a floral arrangement in.  We also created a false note, and used the napkins to pop the big question!

This was definitely one of my favorite projects so far.  Getting to be there (trying to blend in to the background and give them privacy) during their engagement was such a sweet experience!!!

Winter Nature Wedding

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Branches.  Lots of branches.  The groom actually chopped down a tree (that was coming down anyway, I promise!) at his mom’s house so I can have all of the branches.  We paired this with burlap fabric to achieve our nature, winter, clean and simple design.

Beth and Jon.  Two of the most gracious, fun, easy going people I have met.

Rancho Las Lomas.  White tigers.  Cool, of course.

Crushed Pistachio cake, sitting on a dresser filled with moss.  Come On.

Vases made out of tree stumps.

My team of vendors=amazing.

Fiesta Style Tablescape

Monday, March 1st, 2010
I know. This might be weird. But I had this *brilliant* (in my eyes, at least) idea of how to do something different for one of my client’s Salsa Dance themed wedding this summer. I put together a bright, floral print linen, white china, bright napkins, chile can vase, and spray painted a tumbleweed (which are quite hard to find here, BTW) and used parsley to fill in the gaps of the vase. I welcome your feedback *swallow nervously*!
Of course the photos are by the handsome, Mr. Haack.
